SUMBA TIMUR – Malaria Perdhaki, through Perdhaki Sumba Timur Region, is committed to supporting regional development efforts in Sumba Timur Regency.

One of these efforts is through active involvement in synergy and collaboration with the Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) of Sumba Timur Regency, alongside several other non-profit organizations (NGOs).

Bappeda Sumba Timur Regency held a coordination meeting at the Joint Secretariat earlier this week. The meeting aimed to strengthen synergy, collaboration, and the effectiveness of development program implementation by various institutions across Sumba Timur Regency.

During the meeting, the Program Manager of SSR RSK Lindimara, Semi S. Kawarakonda, presented an overview and achievements of the Malaria Perdhaki Program implementation in Sumba Timur Regency.

"In 2025, Village Malaria Cadres (JMD) conducted 140,030 malaria examinations out of a total population of approximately 260,000. This achievement shows that around 50 percent of the population of Sumba Timur Regency has been tested by JMD cadres, representing a significant contribution to malaria control efforts in the region,” said Semi on Monday (February 16).

Semi added that in the January–March 2026 period, SSR RSK Lindimara together with SSR Dekenat Waingapu will focus on drafting Village Regulations (Perdes) on the acceleration of AIDS/HIV, Tuberculosis (TB), and Malaria (ATM) control. The program targets 20 villages in Sumba Timur Regency, following the 2025 achievement in which ATM Village Regulations were successfully established in six villages.

Semi explained that several key points were agreed upon during the cross-NGO and Bappeda Sumba Timur meeting.

First, all NGOs may utilize the Joint Secretariat as a coordination and collaboration space to achieve their respective program goals. Second, Joint Secretariat meetings will be held regularly every three months as a platform for communication, evaluation, and program alignment.

Third, Bappeda Sumba Timur Regency expects all NGOs, including funding institutions, to report their activities to Bappeda to support integrated and data-driven regional development planning.

Fourth, all NGOs are encouraged to actively participate in the Sub-district Development Planning Deliberations (Musrenbang) to ensure that implemented programs align with community needs.

Fifth, the meeting emphasized the importance of NGO support in promoting village self-reliance, particularly in increasing Village Own-Source Revenue (PADes) as a foundation for sustainable local economic development.

Through this meeting, it is hoped that stronger collaboration will be built between the local government and NGOs in supporting health development, village empowerment, and the improvement of community welfare in Sumba Timur Regency in a sustainable manner.
