MALARIA PERDHAKI—NGADULANGGI. The drive to achieve a malaria-free East Sumba Regency by 2028 is becoming a reality. Ngadulanggi Village, located in Nggaha Ori Angu District, officially declared its Malaria-Free status on October 16, 2026. This declaration reflects the community’s determination to support East Sumba's 2028 Malaria Elimination target while strengthening cross-sectoral efforts in disease prevention.

Despite facing geographical constraints and distance from the district center, Ngadulanggi Village proved that collective collaboration drives change. The event kicked off with Free Health Checks (CKG) conducted by the Nggoa Community Health Center (Puskesmas). The event was attended by Assistant III of the East Sumba Regional Secretariat, Umbu Maramba Memang, S.Pt., alongside the representative of PM SR PW KA Ende, Ard Dalo. The program also featured a screening of the documentary film "Jejak Tak Terlihat" (Invisible Footprints), which depicts the dedication of Village Malaria Cadres (JMD) and Malaria Elimination Driving Teachers (Guru PEM).

"Through this declaration, we want to prove that even from a remote village with limited resources, a strong spirit grows to be part of the solution in overcoming malaria in East Sumba Regency. We hope that Ngadulanggi's journey and experience toward the 2028 Malaria Elimination goal can serve as a role model and inspiration for other villages to control and free their areas from malaria," said the Head of Ngadulanggi Village, Andrias K. A. Praing, in his opening remarks.

The Head of Nggoa Puskesmas noted that Ngadulanggi Village has the potential to become a model for other villages. Echoing this sentiment, Assistant III Umbu Maramba Memang expressed his hope that this milestone inspires surrounding villages to make a similar commitment.

Capitalizing on this momentum, Ngadulanggi Village officially enacted a Village Regulation on AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria (Perdes ATM) and established a Working Group Team (Pokja). This policy aims to strengthen cross-sector coordination, clarify roles, and boost community participation in integrated disease response.

The event concluded with a joint pledge recited by the Village Head and all residents: "OUR COMMITMENT: There is no room for malaria in Ngadulanggi Village. Every symptom is tested, every case is detected, every case is treated, and every citizen actively prevents malaria."

This pledge underscores that achieving Malaria Elimination by 2028 requires early intervention and active involvement from every resident. Ngadulanggi Village’s initiative brings hope that significant change can start from a village facing access limitations.

Ngadulanggi Village falls under the operational area of Sub-Sub Recipient (SSR) Waingapu Decanate, an implementing partner of Primary Recipient (PR) Malaria Perdhaki, supported by the Global Fund for the AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria (ATM) program.
