Laihau Village Sets 2026 RKPDes, Prioritizes ATM Program and Malaria Screening

The government of Laihau Village, Lewa Tidahu Subdistrict, East Sumba Regency, held a Village Development Planning Meeting (Musrenbangdes) to determine the 2026 Village Government Work Plan (RKPDes).
The meeting, held at the village office on 25 November 2025, was attended by the Subdistrict Head of Lewa Tidahu, village officials, the Family Welfare Empowerment Team (TP PKK), Babinsa, the Police, health workers, community leaders, and the accompanying team from Perdhaki.

Novriyanto Landudjawa, a Malaria Elimination Volunteer (REM) from SSR Dekenat Waingapu who also attended the meeting, explained that the village government expressed its commitment to strengthening the role of Village Malaria Workers (JMD) through the proposal to procure Rapid Diagnostic Tests (RDT) for malaria and provide incentives for the cadres.
“This step is seen as a form of appreciation for the contribution of JMD cadres in malaria prevention and control at the village level,” Novri said.
The discussion also highlighted the implementation of the Village Regulation concerning the prevention and control of ATM (AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria) and the formation of the ATM Preparedness Task Team. Although the Village Fund allocation has been reduced by up to 30 percent, the village government ensured that the ATM program budget would remain in place to maintain essential community health services and cadre activities in the field.
In addition, after the meeting, JMD cadres in Laihau Village, together with health workers from the health center and Malaria Elimination Volunteers (REM), conducted malaria screening for residents who were present.
“The RDT screening was attended by village officials, Babinsa, the Police, and nearby community members. This activity is concrete proof that the commitment to malaria control in Laihau Village goes beyond planning and is immediately manifested through collaborative, cross-sector action,” Novri added.
As a government partner, Perdhaki affirmed its readiness to continue supporting the village government in strengthening health services. This support includes technical assistance, capacity-building for cadres, and strengthening the implementation of the ATM program.
Novri emphasized that the success of infectious disease control depends greatly on strong synergy between the village government, cadres, health centers, and other private institutions.
“The 2025 Musrenbangdes in Laihau Village reinforces the direction of village development that is not only focused on infrastructure and local cooperatives, but also on efforts to improve community health,” said the Head of Laihau Village.
The close collaboration between the village government, JMD cadres and Perdhaki marks an important step toward a healthier, more resilient Laihau Village that is better prepared to face future infectious disease challenges.
