MALARIA PERDHAKI, Jayapura – SSR YDHP Jayapura, in collaboration with the Jayapura City Health Office, held a malaria cadre jamboree as an effort to improve the community’s health status. The committee chairperson, Ika Luluporo, stated that the activity is part of the malaria program of the Indonesian Health Dharma Work Union (Perdhaki) GFATM-PPM. “This event aims to refresh, enhance knowledge and skills, and provide guidance for malaria cadres in preparing villages and urban neighborhoods to be free from malaria transmission,” said Ika at Trikora Field, Abepura, Jayapura City, on Friday, November 3, 2023.

She said that the malaria cadre jamboree, which was held over two days, was attended by 247 participants, including both cadres and malaria cadre supervisors in Jayapura City. "Specifically, the event aims to enhance the ability of malaria cadres to provide accurate information about malaria, mobilize the community, and encourage the use of health services provided by the government," she said. Furthermore, she added, the activity aims to support those affected by malaria and to further introduce the existence of malaria cadres in Jayapura City to the public. "To evaluate the performance achievements of SSR YDHP 1 and 2 in Jayapura City through collaboration, and to evaluate the performance achievements of the Jayapura City Health Office in implementing community empowerment to participate in malaria control," she explained.
Ika added that the methods used in the event included parade performances by each community health center (Puskesmas), malaria cadre quizzes, art performances, and exhibition booths from each Puskesmas. The Acting Regional Secretary of Jayapura City, Robby Kepas Awi, stated that promotive and preventive programs such as GERMAS (Healthy Living Community Movement), PHBS (Clean and Healthy Lifestyle Behavior), and immunization/vaccination are broad efforts to improve public health. “These programs aim to prevent preventable diseases and boost the community’s stamina to avoid contracting infectious diseases,” he said.
He said that the malaria cadre jamboree enhances collaboration between the government and partner institutions involved in malaria control in Jayapura City, as well as engages the community to participate in raising awareness about malaria prevention efforts. “The malaria cadre jamboree serves as one of the advocacy strategies aimed at elimination, particularly for organization, recording and reporting, as well as monitoring and evaluation, strengthening the implementation of Continuous Comprehensive Services at the Jayapura City level,” he said.
Accompanied by the Head of the Jayapura City Health Office, Ni Nyoman Sri Antari, Robby Awi expressed his hope that malaria cadres and their assistants remain enthusiastic in eliminating malaria cases in Jayapura City. “The Jayapura City Government extends its gratitude to SSR YDHP 1 and 2 Jayapura City under the Perdhaki malaria program, for becoming a united spirit in eradicating malaria,” he said.
