Targeting Youth, SSR Mapurujaya Holds a Village Discussion on Malaria Elimination at SMA Negeri 6 Mimika

MALARIA PERDHAKI–MIMIKA. SSR Emanuel Mapurujaya Parish, together with Malaria Elimination Volunteers and cadres, conducted a Village Discussion program at SMA Negeri 6 Mimika on Tuesday (23/2).

Program Manager of SSR Emanuel Mapurujaya Parish, Martinus Ngauk, explained that this initiative aims to engage young people so they become more aware of and concerned about malaria issues.

“Malaria elimination is a collective effort. It certainly requires support from all parties, including young people,” said Martinus on Monday (1/3).

The activity also involved Malaria Elimination Volunteer Bonifasius Lawa along with malaria cadres from Pasar Sentral Health Center under SSR Emanuel Mapurujaya Parish.

Bonifasius explained that the activity aimed to increase public awareness, especially among students, about the dangers of malaria and ways to prevent it.

“In this discussion, together with the malaria cadres, I shared experiences and knowledge about malaria and ways to prevent its spread. We also discussed the importance of maintaining environmental cleanliness and using mosquito nets to prevent mosquito bites,” said Bonifasius.

The Village Discussion ran smoothly and was welcomed enthusiastically by the students of SMA Negeri 6 Mimika. This was evident from the many questions raised by the students regarding malaria issues.

In addition to the discussion session, the students were also divided into discussion groups and later presented the results of their group discussions.

“This activity is part of the Malaria Elimination Program carried out by SSR Emanuel Mapurujaya Parish to increase community awareness about the dangers of malaria and how to prevent it,” Martinus concluded.
