Ambora Village’s Commitment to Malaria Elimination: Strengthening Cadre Response Through Communication Device Support

MALARIA PERDHAKI–Jayapura. The success of malaria eradication at the grassroots level does not depend solely on medical aspects, but is also strongly determined by the surrounding support ecosystem. At the frontline, village governments play a crucial role in providing full support to malaria cadres so they can carry out their duties optimally. This support from village governments is an important indicator in malaria elimination efforts, because without commitment at the local level, prevention efforts are often hindered by operational challenges in the field.

Along with technological advancements, current health challenges demand greater speed through online reporting systems. The need for data that can be accessed in real time by various stakeholders has become increasingly urgent, so that every incoming report can receive immediate and concrete follow-up, rather than merely becoming a collection of administrative records. real-time oleh berbagai pihak menjadi sangat mendesak agar setiap laporan yang masuk dapat segera mendapatkan tindak lanjut yang nyata, bukan sekadar menjadi tumpukan data administratif.

With an integrated digital system, community health centers (Puskesmas) and relevant agencies can conduct accurate monitoring and rapid interventions as soon as cases are detected, making coordination between cadres and medical personnel far more efficient.

A concrete example of this synergy is demonstrated by the Ambora Village Government in Demta District, Jayapura Regency, Papua, which has taken proactive steps to support the performance of its cadres. Recognizing that communication tools are the backbone of effective coordination and rapid reporting, the Head of Ambora Village, Didimus, provided a mobile phone to a malaria cadre, Dorlince, who is part of the Kader Perkasa group. This initiative reflects a strong commitment by the village to ensure that communication barriers in the field no longer hinder public health services.

The provision of this device is intended to support field activities in a systematic manner, particularly in accelerating case reporting and continuously monitoring community health conditions, in line with current digital reporting needs. During a Monitoring and Evaluation activity conducted by the Demta Health Center, this village commitment was directly verified through a statement by Mr. Didimus. He explained that although the village government is currently facing budget constraints due to financial efficiency measures, providing supporting facilities for cadres remains a top priority that cannot be overlooked.

The Ambora Village Government emphasized that this support is given so that cadres can continue to prioritize dedication and responsibility in their duties, while the village government remains committed to seeking the best solutions to sustain the cadres’ role in the future.

The facilitation of communication devices by the village government is expected to further optimize the performance of cadres in contributing to improved health services. This synergy serves as a strong foundation for achieving malaria elimination targets, beginning with the willingness of village authorities to provide responsive access to information and reporting for their communities.

The initiative taken by the Ambora Village Government proves that when policy support is combined with adequate facilities, budget limitations are not a barrier to delivering the best possible services. The synergy between a supportive village government and highly dedicated cadres forms the strongest foundation for building a resilient health system.
