Kapeso Village Reaffirms Its Commitment to Become a Model Village for Malaria Elimination

MALARIA PERDHAKI – MAMBERAMO RAYA. SSR Mamberamo Raya, together with the District Health Office, the Kapeso Village Government, and other related stakeholders, held a Village-Level Coordination Meeting on November 26, 2025.
The meeting involved community leaders, religious leaders, traditional leaders, education representatives, village police officers, and malaria cadres.
The Malaria Officer of the Mamberamo Raya District Health Office, Ronald, expressed his appreciation for the commitment shown by Kapeso Village.
“Hopefully, this village can become a model for malaria elimination for other areas. The Health Office is also ready to provide support for all malaria control efforts,” said Ronald.
This coordination meeting became an important momentum to strengthen synergy among village government authorities, community leaders, health personnel, and malaria cadres toward one shared goal: achieving a malaria-free Kapeso Village in a sustainable manner.
The meeting was held simultaneously with the village head election, in which Eduart Tueman was re-elected as the Head of Kapeso Village.
The Program Manager of SSR Mamberamo Raya, Juan Rumkorem, explained that the meeting also specifically discussed efforts to strengthen malaria elimination initiatives.
"Mr. Eduart, who has been re-elected as village head, reaffirmed his commitment to making Kapeso a model village for malaria elimination at the village level,” said Juan.
Meanwhile, Eduart stated that one of the key efforts to be promoted going forward is community clean-up activities focused on eliminating mosquito breeding sites.
“This activity will be carried out using village funds and will involve auxiliary health center staff and malaria cadres,” explained Eduart.
On another note, Eduart ensured that the Village Regulation on Accelerating Malaria Elimination, which had previously been agreed upon, will be consistently implemented.
Meanwhile, community leader Kaleb Intora invited all residents to actively participate in implementing the Village Regulation.
“I encourage all community members to comply with and actively participate in implementing the Village Regulation to realize a malaria-free Kapeso, without any more illness or deaths caused by this disease,” said Kaleb.
