Issuing Village Regulation, Lapua Village Reaffirms Commitment to Malaria Elimination

MALARIA PERDHAKI – JAYAPURA. The commitment to malaria control has once again been affirmed by the government and community of Lapua Village.
At a meeting held at the Lapua Village Hall on Friday (28/11), all stakeholders agreed on strategic steps to break the chain of malaria transmission.
During the meeting, the Head of Lapua Village, Okto Lambe, together with all community elements, officially enacted Lapua Village Regulation (PERKAM) No. 140/011/KL/DK/2025 on Guidelines for Malaria Control in Lapua Village.
Okto explained that this regulation serves as the policy framework and technical guideline for all activities related to malaria prevention, early case detection, and treatment management at the village level.
“In addition to regulatory support through the Village Regulation, the village government is committed to allocating IDR 200 million for malaria control activities in 2026,” Okto stated.
The Program Manager of SSR Yayasan Putri Kerahiman Papua (Yapukepa) 2, Tomi Aliljaman, emphasized that the issuance of this regulation marks an important milestone for Lapua Village, considering the growing need for structured, participatory, and evidence-based malaria control strategies.
“The active involvement of community members, health cadres, and traditional leaders further strengthens the community-based malaria control approach that has become a hallmark of malaria health initiatives across assisted areas,” said Tomi.
All parties expressed hope that the effective implementation of this Village Regulation will significantly reduce malaria cases in Lapua Village. The spirit of collaboration among the village government, community members, health workers, and Malaria Perdhaki remains the key foundation for achieving a malaria-free Lapua in the future.
