SSR Mapurujaya Ensures Village Support and Rapid Cadre Action for Malaria Elimination

MALARIA PERDHAKI–JAKARTA. The Malaria Perdhaki Program through SSR Paroki Emanuel Mapurujaya is ensuring strong village support and encouraging rapid action from malaria cadres in efforts toward malaria elimination.
Martinus Ngauk, Program Manager of SSR Paroki Emanuel Mapurujaya, stated that several villages have committed to providing incentives for malaria cadres.
“These include Kampung Kaugapu, Hiripau, Ipiri, Yaraya, and Paripi, which are offering six-monthly incentives for each cadre,” said Martinus.
He welcomed this form of support from village governments, noting that such incentives can further motivate the cadres.
The five villages providing incentives hope this support will help reduce malaria cases.
“Through the presence of the cadres, we also hope to promote behavioral change among the community, particularly toward malaria elimination. We are collaborating with village governments and the health center to make this happen,” Martinus explained.
He added that malaria cadres are now consistently promoting effective approaches to malaria elimination.
One such approach includes conducting malaria screening through house-to-house visits and visiting community gathering spots.
Recently, SSR Mapurujaya and malaria cadres from Puskesmas Ipaya carried out home visits and screened children who were gathered on the beach in the area.
“This activity carried out by the malaria cadres received positive feedback from the village government,” Martinus concluded.
