MALARIA PERDHAKI–SARMI. Tafarewar Village in Sarmi Regency is taking increasingly serious steps toward eliminating malaria by drafting a Village Regulation (Perkam).

Program Manager SSR Santo Antonius Sarmi 2, Christoforus Darsono mengungkapkan, kehadiran Perkam merupakan elemen penting dalam mendorong keterlibatan masyarakat untuk pengendalian dan pencegahan malaria.

“Therefore, Perdhaki together with the Health Office, village authorities, and other related stakeholders gathered today to draft the Perkam in Tafarewar Village,” said Christo.

Christo explained that in this process, all parties are encouraged to actively participate by giving input on the key points that will later be agreed upon in the regulation.

“To do that, we divided the participants into three groups, where each group presented the results of their proposed points for the Perkam,” Christo added.

The Head of Tafarewar Village, Yan Manewar, appreciated the commitment of the Health Office and Perdhaki in involving Tafarewar Village in malaria elimination efforts.

According to him, the presence of the Perkam is very important to accelerate efforts toward malaria elimination.

“With this regulation, it will be even better, because the community can follow it, and it aligns with the government’s direction,” Yan said after the meeting.

Yan continued that the meeting also agreed that there would be a quarterly evaluation of the regulation’s implementation.

Similarly, a community leader of Tafarewar Village, Mama Elsi, emphasized the importance of every community member’s commitment to complying with the agreed rules.

"We really have to follow the rules, so that we can quickly achieve a malaria-free community,” she said.
