SSR Yapukepa 1 and Harapan Health Center Ready to Boost Malaria Screening in East Sentani District

MALARIA PERDHAKI–JAYAPURA. Malaria Perdhaki, through SSR Yayasan Putri Kerahiman Papua (Yapukepa) 1, together with Harapan Health Center and village authorities, is committed to increasing malaria screening rates.
This commitment is part of an agreement reached during a monitoring and evaluation meeting held on Wednesday (26/11).
Lilian Suebu, Head of Disease Prevention and Control (P2P) at the Jayapura District Health Office, expressed the office’s support by providing additional incentives.
“We are committed to giving extra incentives to the cadres,” said Lilian.
She emphasized the need for prevention efforts, community education, and increased malaria screening intensity at the community level.
Adrian, Program Manager of SSR Yapukepa 1, stated that the persistently high malaria cases in East Sentani District are the main reason for boosting screening efforts.
“We are committed to increasing screenings from the previous minimum of 100 people per cadre per month to 150 screenings per month,” Adrian explained.
He added that this increase in screenings will begin effectively in 2026.
Adrian also appreciated the Health Office’s support. Malaria cadres have responded positively to the incentive increase and reaffirmed their commitment to malaria prevention and control in their respective areas.
Rosa Monim, Head of Harapan Health Center, conveyed her full support for strengthening supervision of cadre performance in the field.
“We hope that with this increase in both the number and intensity of screenings conducted by the cadres, malaria cases in East Sentani District can be significantly reduced,” Rosa stressed.
In addition, Perdhaki ensures readiness to provide logistical support, including the procurement of screening tools (Rapid Diagnostic Tests/RDT).
